MEMS nitrogen dioxide gas sensor uses MEMS technology to fabricate micro hot plate on Si substrate. The gas sensing material used is metal oxide semiconductor material with low conductivity in clean air. When there is a detected gas in the ambient air, the conductivity of the sensor changes. The higher the concentration of the gas, the higher the conductivity of the sensor. Using a simple circuit, the change of conductivity can be converted into the output signal corresponding to the gas concentration.
